‘What on earth is that’ I hear you say.  Well, in Shanghai, China, they recently held the world’s first silent date.

Here’s what happened: In a similar way to speed dating men and women sat opposite each other for a short period of time. No words were allowed to be spoken and all they could do was to scribble on a bit of paper. These folk were mostly working professionals between 20 and 30.

The introductions agency behind it say that “It’s inviting users to have blind dates without conversation.”

How’s your Chinese?

Li Wenlong, Founder of dating Website 2BWM.com, said “There are a lot of people who aren’t good at expressing themselves verbally but are good at writing out their thoughts, particularly people who spend a lot of time on the Internet so it really suits them.”

The organisers insist on strict rules for the date. The male participants start the session by playing musical chairs to select their female partner. And anyone who breaks the no-speaking rules has sticky tape placed over their mouth.

“Musicman” a 29-year-old professional, said “We have to communicate through the written word and body language and that makes it really interesting.” None of the silent daters has yet announced plans to marry. No doubt, if any do marry life will be very peaceful!

One thing is for sure… at least they won’t be able to call you a ‘W*nker’ if you draw a picture of a giant penis!

1 – A crap photo or no photo at all.
Ask yourself, ‘would I contact anyone I can’t see to know whether or not you fancy them?’ The answer is always nope.

2 – Sending a message, but with a boring subject.
The first move is the most important… be original and try to get that ‘lucky smile’ out of them, then you are 80% there.

3 – You forget to respond…
People don’t hang around on dating sites, there are twice as many men online dating than women (fact) so go make that move and stop playing hard to get.

4 – Getting heavy too early on.
It’s the best possible way to freak someone out so don’t do it. Just hold back your emotions and ‘play it cool trig’. They will let you know when you can show affection.

There are some sick bast*rds out there I’m afraid to say. They’re so sad that they have to use drugs to guarantee their success in the sack. Although with the help of the media and a number of websites, people are being made more aware about what it is that they need to look out for.

Unfortunately you just can’t tell who these sad individual are unless you catch them in the act of course. At this stage you should subtly contact the bartender and tell them you are suspicious and for whatever reason.

The drug is called Rohypnol and believe it or not it is a legitimate drug used in the short-term treatment of sleep disorders. It’s part of the Valium family (but 10 times more potent) and sometimes known as flunitrazepam. It can only be prescribed privately in the UK.

It rose to prominence as the date rape drug because it was colourless, odourless and tasteless - ideal for spiking drinks undetected - and causes sedation or euphoria in approximately 20 to 30 minutes. Effects last for up to 8 hours (dependent upon dosage).

There are many reasons for this unfortunately. The media has a lot to answer for; glorifying glamorous divorces, producing shows that present infidelity and the ease of divorce… the list goes on. But this article will; help you get your head around why we may choose to cheat. You will notice that the motivations are different for the different sexes.

Men have clearly one thing on their mind, whereby a woman’s reasoning is far more about being desired. It all comes down to good old testosterone!

Why Men Cheat
• they crave a more active sex life
• they want sexual variety
• fear factor sex – it’s a challenge without getting caught
• to satisfy sexual curiosity and live out a fantasy with a particular female
• a feeling that they are back in the driving seat of their lives
• the desire to feel more desired
• sexual addiction

According to this new site www.nsb4m.com site, more and more of us are practicing abstinence and looking for partners doing the very same.

The founder, Debra Kennard said “we found there are not many sites that actually promote abstinence, so we created a site for those who support abstinence”. There are numerous sites that support alternative lifestyles but none that offer the choice to wait until marriage to have sex.

The site has been steadily growing. “We found that two or more members per day were signing up when we first announced the site earlier this year. We are improving our site on a weekly basis and it will soon have a new look,” Kennard states.
