It’s happened to the best of us, some ore than others – a painful lonely feeling resides in your stomach along with the questions that buzz round your head trying to understand the rejection.

It’s possible the worst feeling to endure in life itself, .....

BUT don’t fear there is help at hand and some clear things available to do to get over your misfortune which I have listed below.  In fact you would be surprised just how you grow as a person for the better when you go through the motions of being dumped, but only once the dust settles and you accept the situation.  Being dumped will more often than not make you a stronger and more determined person, although at first it doesn’t feel like this.

These are a couple of things to think about if you are unfortunate enough to be dumped:

1 - The first secret is to accept what has happened to you.  I don’t promise this will be easy, however you should just try to tell yourself that it has happened rather than pretending it hasn’t.

2 - Give it time.  Because the emotions are in a state of red alert, you will be rushing to get over the relationship and move on.  What you need to remember is that it takes time to get in control of your emotions again and get over the relationship.

3 - Don’t go back!  This has happened to me before and all you are doing is prolonging the agony.  Move on!

4 - Try to stay away from the same paths as your ex.  This helps the fixing process as you won’t feel the hurtful feelings when you see them.

5 - Try meeting some new friends or hanging out in other circles for a change.  You never know, your soul mate could be among them.

6 - Box up all the items in your possession that remind you of your ex.  You don’t need the memories all around you.

7 - Best friends are key in this situation – you’d help them if they need it, so don’t be afraid to ask their support.

8 - Find a new interest and get good at it.  This takes your mind off the hurt as well as builds your confidence.

9 - Don’t go looking for revenge.  You will more than likely want to but let me tell you that the best form of revenge is for your ex to see you happy and not reliant on them.

10 - Don’t go rushing back into a relationship.  Be single for a while and get to know the true you as an individual – this is the ultimate feeling once mastered.

11 - Retail therapy is great for these times.  Change your look and get a stylish haircut.  It will mentally move you on from the past relationship and a ‘new you’ will respawn

It’s a cliché BUT it’s true, ‘If you got dumped then it just wasn’t meant to be’!

READER COMMENTS:

I have had this article saved in my favorites since 2006. This May I will be divorced for three years and in that time I have been dumped by my ex, embarrassed to say the number. But today I read and actually read this article...IT IS GREAT…
I have printed the 11 steps to do. It is taped to my mirror, so ever morning I can read it.
Oh how I wish I had done this a year ago.
Thanks
