Dating at Work, a good idea or not?

Many people debate this subject.  We spend most of our lives working – a shocking fact but its true.  Therefore it is only natural for you to generate some feelings for a potential mate whilst at work, because you will probably grow to know their personality inside out within a short period of time.

Menial tasks like photocopying can become amazingly exciting!

You can’t stop the attraction process – if you see someone at work who is quite delightful in your eyes you have a major debate in your hands.  Do you make a move and risk a pleasant atmosphere at work OR do you keep quiet and get over it?

I can’t answer that for you I’m afraid.  However I can tell you that dating at work can be exciting and make the day more enjoyable OR it could make life hell for you and you may end up leaving.

The Pros:
1 - You get to see your partner every day
2 - The day goes quicker as your can play some flirty games
3 - Work becomes a pleasure and not a chore
4 - Your partner can never moan that they never see you
5 - You get to know your partner inside out a lot quicker

The Cons:
1 - Everyone knows your business or wants to get involved, rumours fly!
2 - If you break up it can create a horrific atmosphere in the workplace
3 - You may end up with work topics being the only thing you have in common
4 - You may alienate work colleagues without knowing
5 - Sometimes you may feel there is no escape
6 - Your work suffers because you can’t stop thinking about your partner
7 - Things can really turn sour if you break up and people tend to be manipulated against you

It’s a fact that a large amount of people find love at work. Whether you decide to give it a try is up to you.  I know that from speaking to people, dating in a small business can be very claustrophobic, but dating in a larger organisation means you can escape now and again.

Some companies in the USA enforce a ‘NO DATING AT WORK’ rule, which is typical of the ‘controlling’ nation.  I wholly disagree with this and feel that US greed is more important to enjoyment at work.

The last piece of advice I will give you is that life is too short an you must do what you want to do – never have any regrets.  Be sure there is some mileage in a relationship at work before you embark on this episode of your life, and understand the pros and cons above.  It has worked amazingly well for me and 2 years on still want to be with this lady for a very long time.
