Dating churn – are you just a number?
The rise and rise of the internet has driven the thirst or online entrepreneurs wanting to claim their stake of the net. Online dating is still the highest earning online business and that’s a fact. More and more people are therefore logging on for love.
Whilst social networking and the development of the web is allowing us the opportunity to check out more potential spouses than ever before, have we just become a number?

If you think about it, online dating has increased levels of competition amongst us whilst given us the opportunity of more choice. But does this mean we have become more choosy about who we date and is this a good thing?
The instinctive quick answer is ‘yes’, however after thinking about it I have come to the conclusion that because there is so much choice and we churn through profiles like we never have before looking for Mr of Mrs Right, we infact will always continue to churn through people like numbers thinking there is something better around the corner and keep going.
Is this an entirely bad thing? Because there is now so much choice we can believe that we have more chance of meeting the right person. But looking at our parents and their parents generations – they had no internet and divorce rates were lower than they are today because they made do. The rise of online dating can therefore be looked at as giving us too much choice and therefore we are always striving for something better!

READER COMMENTS:
Having choices is what 21st century is all about but when it comes to online dating it might be confusing. At the end it all comes down to the every person’s commitment to find Mr./Mrs. right. And largely this is lacking in both free dating sites and their paid counter parts.
