Does your date embarrass you?
Picture this; you have been getting excited for a week at the prospect of meeting your new found online love. Only thing is that you have never seen them… well maybe just a face photo and you have a good idea as to their personality, but what will they dress like or behave like?

What would you do if your date turned up looking like this?
Many of my friends have had hilarious experiences with blind and online dates that could only come out of a book of genius comedy. One male friend in particular met a girl who came across really cool online, but when he met her dress sense was from the 80’s… but the dark side, and she stank of meat (her dad was a butcher)!!! She drew a lot of unwanted attention to say the least.
Many people also upload photos to their profile from their best era when they were half decent looking – the worst case of this is a man who uploaded a photo of when he was 19… he’s now 52, balding and fat! You also can’t tell what they are going to behave like out in public or dress like, which can be a concern. It highlights that your line of questioning before you meet them should be rigorous.
So, what can you do if you find yourself on a date with a total embarrassment?
The following options are open to you:
Stay for one - You owe them that you never know you may actually grow to like them, and ‘beauty is skin deep’ after all. A funky dress sense may mean a funky personality.
Take them on as a project – If you like them then why don’t you help them. Style them for their own good. You may actually find a great friend here if not a lover. You will obviously need to broach the subject carefully so as not to offend. If you both have a sense of humour this will be a lot easier. Perhaps a second date could be in a department store where you can drop some killer hints!
Call for backup – Text a mate and get them to call you (as your mother) to tell you that there is a minor emergency at home.
Confront them – This is for the brave, tell them that they look nothing like their profile or they have an odour problem or they are acting like a baboon and you feel cheated. Then leave quickly requesting no further contact.
Run! – I don’t advise this as you do have to take into account the other person’s feelings, but if they really are that bad you may feel you have no other choice. Just make sure you aren’t wearing high heels.
