The pair and Kate’s pal Sadie Frost watched Brand’s comedy routine at a pub in the capital before heading to a charity event at Annabel’s nightclub.
They later went onto to Brand’s home.
Friends of Kate - who lost several lucrative modelling contracts and checked into rehab after shocking images of her snorting cocaine were printed last year - say the pair are smitten with each other.
A source is quoted in Britain’s The Sun newspaper as saying: “Kate finds Russell hilarious and he has the sort of rock star looks she’s attracted to.
“But they have deeper things in common. He is recovering from drugs, booze and sex addiction problems. Kate has been through her cocaine scandal and is getting over junkie Pete Doherty. So they have a lot to talk about.”
The insider added: “They spent the night together and have been on the phone since. All Kate’s friends think he is the perfect man for her.”
