Prescription4Love.com – is this a dangerous idea?
I stumbled across this site earlier and felt it needed to be in my ‘niche dating’ section because it really is quite unique in terms of the visitors it is looking to attract.
It is a site set up in the States specialising in attracting people with Cancer, Diabetes, IBS, Obesity, Deafness, Allergies, Hepatitis, Infertility/Impotence, and STDs. My first thought and concern with it was that you can’t categorise people with cancer and impotence! Two very different but still nasty things to happen to someone. Have people looking to make a buck out of the online dating revolution gone too far this time?

The good side of the site is that it pairs people who have experienced similarly nasty things in their life and therefore provides them with a sense that they are not alone and there are other people out there with the same problems looking for a mate. The site is also free for a limited time so as to build its customer base, and once it has achieved a certain number members will be asked to pay a low monthly fee which will then be given to each charity for each condition.
According to Ricky Durham the President of Prescription4Love.com, “Finding others with similar circumstances is a natural desire for everyone. Honesty is important, but finding an opportunity to mention such subjects can be difficult. By using Prescription4Love.com, you can be honest in advance and progress to the next stages of friendships and relationships.”
Do you think it will take off?

READER COMMENTS:
I must admit that it seems pretty strange to mix disabilities with STDs. Its wrong to put all these people under the umberlla of disability. Good idea though for people with same issues to get together.
