Romantic Counties – Great date ideas for Kent, UK.

Now on to our third county, Kent. These are my top 5 ideas for romantic days in this beautiful county:

Canterbury Tales - If you are looking for an informative and light humorous day out then this place is perfect. Although it’s a popular tourist spot don’t let this put you off, it offers a stunning reconstruction of 14th century England, its just like stepping into the Middle Ages. The place allows you to live some of England’s finest stories written by Geoffrey Chaucer (England’s finest poet).

Dover – A popular port to France it also offers one of England’s most famous landmarks ‘The While Cliffs of Dover’. On a good day you can clearly see France. There’s a load to do here including Dover Castle and Secret Wartime Tunnels. If you like a bit of exploration then you must go to the tunnels, they lie deep underground - first dug during the Napoleonic Wars, but strategically useful through the 20th century. There’s even a ghost tour at the castle. The scenery is breathtaking when you get to the rural parts.

Bedgebury National Pinetum & Forest  - Open 365 days a year, Bedgebury is the perfect place for a romantic walk, cycle and horse ride in a spectacular world of trees. There are 2000 acres to explore with loads of romantic panoramic views. A beautiful spot if you want to walk off that romantic meal!

Groombridge Place Gardens & Enchanted Forest – Set in 200 acres of woodland you will find perhaps one of the most enchanted places in England. The ark contains a series of magnificent walled gardens set against the romantic backdrop of a 17th century moated manor house - including the Herbaceous Border, White Rose Garden, Drunken Topiary, Secret Garden, Knot Garden and Peacock Walk. This is just one of the most romantic places I have been and the forest is just stunningly romantic if you fancy a walk.

Chislehurst Caves – A fascinating and slightly eerie labyrinth of dark mysterious passages which have been hewn by hand from the chalk, deep beneath Chislehurst. There are three separate sections, attributed to the Druids, Romans and Saxons. There’s more than twenty miles of tunnels so be ready for a bit of exercise. There is also loads of history which makes it a slightly unusual place for a date… but still a pretty cool and memorable location.
