What makes someone attractive?
There are a number of reasons, firstly let’s look at the elements you can control smell, style, appearance, status. And then there is the element that you have little or no control over – the geometric symmetry in your face and figure.
Research has proven that we are programmed to read contours on people’s faces and body shape which allows us to determine whether or not they are attractive, the more symmetrical they are, the more attractive they become.

Annie Lennox is said to have the perfect symmetrical face… but not all of us will find her attractive!
When people decide to have plastic surgery or just cake on the make up, they are all looking to improve their symmetry in the hope of attracting more sexual attention. Just like when women hire a personal stylist to improve the appearance of their figure through altering the way they dress.
Men in particular tend to look for these geometrics more so than women, whilst women are looking for a man who can offer food and protection – often categorised by status in today’s male. Hence why successful men are always far more attractive to women than unsuccessful men.
Men are also looking for an hourglass figure in their women (ideally) which presents a female with good reproductive traits. The bigger a woman is, the less fertile they are deemed to be.
You can thank our cave man ancestors for all this!
